"The Smooth Jazz Specialists"
"Plan B" is a contemporary smooth jazz band of five talented musicians born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1997, the group's members are Dale Harris (leader) on bass guitar, Tom Smith on keyboards, Ray Robinson on drums, Mike Cummings on guitar and Yinka Moore on percussion.
After practicing long and hard hours, the band began to take their music more seriously and sought to become one of the better jazz bands and recording artists in the Philadelphia area. Since then, they have appeared regularly at many of Philadelphia's top jazz venues and have performed at spots such as Zanzibar Blue, Charlie B's, Club Damani, Manayunk Brewery, North by Northwest, The Liacorus Center, The Wachovia Center, The Borgata Hotel and Casino, Caesars Hotel, Taylors, O'Hara's, The Inner Circle, The Peoples' Festival, The West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, Warm Daddy's, The Flying Fishbone, Stinger Square Festival and last but not least, Penns Landing on the riverfront. "Plan B" is also the "official" house band of Philadelphia's former smooth jazz radio station, WJJZ 97.5 FM. In 2007, they recorded, produced and released their debut CD entitled, "If U Only Nu" on Philly Groove Music/Records.
"Innovative" is the word that best describes their style and approach to music as they incorporate new dynamics and energetic expressions into their songs. Whether they are performing a popular cover tune, or some of their highly requested originals, they simply leave you hungry for more. What makes them unique from other smooth jazz groups is their unique ability to encompass R&B, jazz, funk, reggae, fusion along with other magical elements which allow their energy to flow, embracing the mind, body and spirit of each listener. When you find your head bobbing and are up on your feet dancing to their smooth grooves, you'll know that you have been captivated by "Plan B".
Their career is moving steadily on course and with their debut CD they have been opening doors to new venues. You can bet that "Plan B" will ultimately become a household name worldwide in the jazz genre.
